When I was at the sale barn one time a bull calf in the ring darned near went over the ring corral and into the bleachers. even the old seasoned scalpers sitting in the second row were ready to get up and run. LOL. I was at the auction in Bassett Ne maybe thirty years ago. In the staging pen just outside the ring I saw the help all jump up on top of the corral gates right before they let this wild bull calf in the ring. The ring man was on a big cutting horse and he rode the horse into a protected stall on the edge of the ring for cases like this only the horse's rump was still exposed. The bull calf saw the horse's rump and rammed into the horse several times but the rider held the horse still while he calmly sat in the saddle with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth looking back at the action going on. About fifteen seconds later they opened the exit gate, the bull calf ran wide open out of the ring and the guys in back were jumping up on the corral panels again. I was amazed at how well trained the cutting horse was. It was about four times bigger than the calf and could have kicked the calf senseless but it held it's ground.
