My only experience is with an Eager Beaver disc chipper w/ an auto feeder. It has a 65hp V-4 Wisconsin on it and will devour trees up to 10"! A little more pricey than a PTO unit, but if you have a lot to grind, it is the way to go. : : Does anyone have any comments on the use of a pto woodchipper with a ford 8n. : : Is it enough hp? : : If not does anyone have any reccommendations on a tow behind chipper? : I'm using a 4" chipper on a 20 HP tractor. The tractor doesn't even know it's there. Chippers have a big honking flywheel, and once you get it rolling, it doesn't take much to keep 'er going, as long as the blades are sharp. I think you'd be fine.
