709 gyro mower needed new blades, & a new PTO shield. Let the local Deere dealer do the work. Blades came in wrong, & didn't have the correct shield in stock. Told them I would take the mower & use it till correct parts came in after another week. Mowed about 10 - 15 minutes, then saw what I thought was dust coming up the front of the cab of a JD 3055. Was mowing next to road; pulled out in the middle of the road, realized this so called dust was still coming up. Looked behind & no dust. Got out, & quickly realized I was spewing hydraulic fluid at an alarming rate. At least a gallon a minute. Put it in high gear, & ran to the barn 300 feet away. Shut it down fast, & threw a large piece of cardboard under the tractor. Even after 5 minutes it was still dripping a lot, & fluid everywhere on the right side. Battery box was full of it, Inside right tire covered,. & of course I couldn't find the leak. Its hidden up behind panels, & the cab. Steering seemed normal; doubt that's it. Brakes are separate, clutch is dry. Going to let Deere look at it; which wont be till at least Monday now. Had a lot more I planned on doing today, & lost interest in the rest.

They were horrified (we lived by the railroad), my mother thought the worst: "He’s been run over by a train, he’s gone forever!" Where did they find me? Perched up on the seat of the tractor. I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
