How do I determine what type of alternator/amperage is on a 1988 Dodge Dakota 3.9 v6? Seemingly I can have a 90amp or a 120amp on this vehicle. I am pretty sure I have a 120 but cannot be certain. The tag on the back is worn but it seems to read part no 7C150 or 7G150 or 70150. It is a Nippondenso but I do not feel a need to replace it with one just the right amperage. I believe it has a MAPPS so I am pretty sure the wrong amperage will really bung things up. I am pretty sure the brushes are worn too short, but I cannot find the square ones with springs anywhere. Also, the copper rings that the brushes contact are worn unevenly and I cannot figure how to pull them from the shaft nor can I find replacements. They seem to be epoxied on.
