Okay Jim by placing the washers as you mentioned are you proposing they are to force (smash) the lining of the clutch plate to the flywheel face to in effect lock the clutch engaged? Not all outside diameters of clutch plates run that close to the clutch plate attachment bolt circle but in some cases they do. If your intention was not for the washers to catch the edge of the clutch plate then I am confused. Because by shimming the pressure plate away from the flywheel that would cause less force to the fiction surface of the clutch lining causing it to slip more or not even engage at all. Lastly let me beg some forgiveness from Loren because I have never worked on one of these crawlers. Also OT I would like to say to Loren that I quite enjoy your post and your talent as a fabricatior and envy your determination to complete jobs in a timely manner.
