I quess I dont understand the problem. We sell debt notes all the time to anyone and they all have terms of rate and maturity dates... And we are considered a very very safe investment. And with the interest rates low, low, low,,, our debt is a bargin on the market... And if they dump it all, they only hurt themselves as it will go at a discount, only short term,,,,, as the rates in a poor economy will always make them a great and valuble buy. What am I missing??? I know that the euro is a great stable currency now, but would I buy bonds from the "euro nations" with Greece and Turkey in the dumper??
And.. if they dump it, the US would be wise to buy a lot of it back at a discount... preserve the market, and just issue new debt later.
