: Randy : : I have a 1940 Ford 9N which has the usual growl in the transmission when being operated. When pulling under load, the usual gear growl occurs, but when the engine is holding back the tractor as if going down a grade the transmission has a very fast occurring click or "clatter" in the transmission which is quite loud. In reverse it does likewise.
