Last year it was a very late spring here and it went directly from planting into silage making. Some areas of our corn suffered weed stress because they grew extra fast in the mid June heat we had and we didn't do a great job crop scouting while making feed. Last evening and (most of) today was the only sun we had in a week so while conditions were favorable I sprayed. The corn is at the 2 leaf stage with the third peeking through. It was advised to me by our supplier to go earlier with 3/4l per acre of glysolfate and .6 l/acre of atrazine to take care of escapes. Is this strategy something that's been used in other areas? There were also some other premixed cocktail chemicals suggested but were twice as expensive per acre to use.
