They're supposed to be 1200 pound bales,but the few that I've actually weighed were around 900. These were older seedings,a lot of orchard grass with failing alfalfa. The yield is up considerably from last year. Four acres of the 24 from Saturday is on the same farm as the 21 acres I raked and baled Friday. There ended up being 162 on that farm total. There were 122 on that place last year. The other 20 acres where there was 113 bales,I'd have to go look at my note pad in the 2-135,but I think there was about 102 or so on that one last year. Good thing yield is up because after a wet month of May so it was tough getting corn in,it's dried right up to the point of getting scary. If it doesn't rain pretty soon to keep the pastures going,I'll be feeding dry hay by late July.
