Does the pto work? A sudden stop like that can be many things. If the pto works then there is a coupler between the pump and pto that could have failed. There is also a rubber gasket between the pump and pickup tube that could have failed. Could also be a broken spring in the relief, that is under the large nut on top of the unit. Those tractors can take most any kind of oil so I doubt that is your problem.
