During severe cold spells I leave mine plugged in all time. If the tractor is sheltered it will take about 2 hrs. to warm up. If it is full of coolant the heater will never bother. The batt charger should be on trickle charge for a while to warm batt. Mine has 1200 watt heaters on 2 tractors the electric company likes me.
