Roy has it correct they are called link belts. I have tried them but they are just a temporary fix in my opinion. They stretch so much they are hard to keep adjusted.
Neighbor has an old D2 cat with a front drive pump. You have to take the entire front apart to replace the fan belt. He put a link belt on it. He had to shorten it three times in one afternoon. He had me replace the belt after that. It took a full day. We put a second belt around the shaft and wire tied it out of the way. So he has an extra already installed.
