I'm not a member of PayPal, but after making my first purchase from eBay a few months ago, I've spoken with them and as eBay's official money handler, they say that they're going to get my money back. I bought a set of axles for one of my 4x4 Dodges from some guy out of New York, and just shy by two days of three months after having purchased them from the guy and having never received anything from the guy but excuses why I hadn't received them, the last excuse being that the shipper shipped them back to him because he supposedly shipped them with gear lube in them, I pulled the plug. I told eBay what happened, they transferred me to their money handler, PayPal and they told me that they would check into it to hear both sides of the story, and if I was correct, and I know that I am, they would go after the guy. They have the records of my credit card purchase for the axles, and there will certainly be no record of my having received any shipment that never happened. I'll be watching my credit card statements closely since I paid by credit card, but the payment actually went to PayPal and then PayPal paid the seller, not from me to the seller directly.

Given what happened to me, I suspect that the guy intends to use PayPal to keep you honest...not saying that you aren't. I'm guessing that the guy is either an experienced buyer or has been burned or both. In my case, I was an inexperienced buyer that got burned my one and only time out through eBay. I'm in no hurry for a repeat, so I won't be buying anything through eBay anytime soon. I work too hard for my money to choose some unknown schmuck on the internet to give it to.

Good luck.

Mark

Today's Featured Article - Tuning-Up Your Tractor: Plugs & Compression Testing - by Curtis Von Fange. The engine seems to run rough. In the exhaust you can hear an occasion 'poofing' sound like somethings not firing on all cylinders. Under loaded conditions the tractor seems to lack power and it belches black smoke out of the exhaust. For some reason it just doesn't want to start up without cranking and cranking the starter. All these conditions can be signals that your unit is in need of a tune up. Ok, so what is involved in a tune up? You say, swap plugs and file the points....now tha ... [Read Article]
