Kicking around buying a 1 ton gasser. Probably around a 2011 to 2014. Considering I have always driven diesels, my question would be IF I went to a gasser, probably Chevy or Ford, would the 4:10 gears or the 3:73 gears be the way to go. Most of the driving would be with a trailer, but anymore I don't pull that much, and am not sure if I can justify the extra cost of the diesel.
The truck I have now is a 2004 Duramax and I only have 87K on it for miles. Most of them were in the first couple of years.
What are the thoughts here with those of you that have them? The 3:73 would help the gas mileage when not pulling a trailer for sure, but I am assuming it would kill the power when you are pulling a load. Thus the 4:10 would be better with the load, but worse on the fuel mileage. Just trying to plan ahead. Thanks a lot - Bob

It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
