I have a CASE 420B T/L/B with a leaking rod seal on the power steering cylinder. I was successful on rebuilding the valve, but can't remove the seal from the end of the cylinder. It has a snap ring and washer holding the seal and rod guide in place, which I've removed. Its a welded cylinder so the end can't be remove nor can the piston be refurbished. I've run it for several days now with out the retaining ring hoping the hydraulic pressure would "blow" out the assembly when turning fully to the steering stops but it won't budge. I'm concerned about applying heat and I don't want to destroy the cylinder. It probably is very expensive like everything else I've bought from CASE. Anyone have any suggestions? The CASE parts catalog doesn't have service parts for the cylinder other than rod seal/guide. Othewise, it's replacement time for the whole cylinder. Is there someone out there that rebuilds these ordinarilly non-rebuildable cylinders? Ken McWilliams Dayton, Ohio
