Hi: Folks I have a problem. I have a 580 case loader/backhoe 1974 vintage, I think. Recently I hit the starter button when the motor was running and the flywheel ripped the start gear off. (ugg). I got a rebuilt starter no problem. The problem is the gear is somewhere in the tractor (bell housing, torque tube). The starter runs in oil(wet system). The tractor is a hydrostat. I'm going to try and fish the gear pieces out with a magnet. I already emptied out the hydro fluid closest to the starter area, only a few of the peices came out. Any Ideas on how one might get peices out without splitting the tractor? What may happen if I leave it in. All feedback welcome. Thanks Mike
