I guess it is why I love to read all the knowledge on this board. I deal a lot in used equipment and probably 70% or more is done bank to bank wire transfer. Real common and no problem. If you want to try have him give you HIS bank and let your bank contact his bank for payment. Overseas wire transfer used to take two or three days but now I can sell a unit to an individual in London and lots of time the money be in my bank the same day. So far I have never had a wire transfer canceled and that is not so with cashier checks. They can be canceled if the sender is willing to put up a bond. Cash is pretty much out when you go to dealing in a unit that cost more than a few thousand. IRS makes all banks report any withdrawal or deposit of over 10 thousand and who want to go thru that hassle. And there is the case of the Florida couple that went to buy a car with cash, you always risk getting knocked in the head.
