lots of folx that never ran a massey like to bash them ,as I have said many times . there are good and bad about any machine , proper maintenance and KNOWING THE MACHINE INSIDE AND OUT AND ITS CAPABILITIES is Paramont to successful running of a good combine ,don't let anyone tell You that the massey is junk ,, I would bet they are colorblind about a lot of othrr things too .I have been in jd 6600 that spill corn out the back every time you went uphill ,,And According to the owner THERE WAS NOT A DAMTHING TO DO ABOUT IT except slow down to a crawl til you got level again. ,. not sure if that is true,, I really think I could a screwed a 2 inch hi stop gate on the back of the sieve and fixt that problem ,,. my brother and I have run masseys since hi school days in the early 70s , around southern ind , they were as common as anything else going in the field .. in defense of Massey, my brother could go faster with a 510 than anyone in 70 bushel wheat ,do a clean job and get every grain in the bin with no trash ,..the neighbor kids that ran other machines pinned me down at the corner gas station one day ,,they told me their dads said my brother was going way too fast to do a good job in the name of slappin beans in before it rained ,.we grabbed some cold cokes and hopt in my marquis convertible and started doing field tours ,,.we could not find nary a grain left behind in the massey 510 fields, the gleaner had a few , but not many ,,and those gleaner fellas knew their machine real well and had it tuned rite ,,.. the deere was the worst , but not bad ,.for a guy that went from gleaner to massey , and then to deere , and still did not know how to set a combine rite ,. LOL,,. that was when I found out who was complaining the loudest about my speed demon brother, LOL I still have 3 massey 300 s in the dry ,..for 6 yrs now, I run a 750 massey ,2 yrs ago , we fought a bad injection pump most of the harvest season , thinking it was everthing but that ,400 bux at interstate injection , MADE me a very nice running combine. last yr it took me and another guy nearly two days to change the output shaft bearing ,, so , I can relate to those guys that say that MF actually stands for sumthin else other than massey ferguson ,,.I only run 120 acres in row crops ,, but I really like the massey in corn with a 6 row head is a smooth running outfit , I just bought a 20 ft floating graintable that I cant wait to see how well it does over my problematic current one that went thru a half million acres ,.. would I better off with a axial or a green combine ?,,. probably, but the learning curve for this old man is not what I want to go thru , and besides there are plenty used parts still available for a song as opposed to deere and caseih ,, SO I KNOW I Am way ahead on Money..

Today's Featured Article - A Lifetime of Farm Machinery - by Joe Michaels. I am a mechanical engineer by profession, specializing in powerplant work. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
