Either will work fine for that. Since its just mild steel most any rod will work fine. Folks way over think the rod question and the debate goes on and on, but the truth is that for most farm welding almost any rod you can get will work fine. The best rod for you is the one you're used to and the one you can run the nicest bead with. If you struggle to get a good bead with a rod you likely have a poor weld too. 99% of farm welding is very basic and therefore it's best to use what is easiest for you to work with.
