Advantages of IHC H over Ford 8N? Biggest advantage is use of cultivator for gardens and row crop weed getting without herbicides. Other advantages are minor- the ability to do a tight turn when sickle bar mowing of hay without hitting fence with outside turn front wheel may be important to you. Grew up with IHC H, M, 350--have 350D from mothers estate yet. Some neighbors had the Ford Ns and they had their place- but H cultivator advantage beat 3 point plow mount for many- 3 point type plow for the 8N was good for 2-12 or maybe 2-14 while H did 2-14 with pull type plow in same soils as N did with the 2-12. 8N advantage was the 3 point hitch mounted implements for tight turns- now a 3 point can be put on H fairly easy, 3 different makers noted on various Forums here and the mounting of couple are noted for H's. 3 point implements sort of common now- but pull type implements still available many places and IHC implements in old IHC farm areas are usually available- If your area has plenty of IHC H and Ms available, likely lots of IHC implements and pull type discs and plows. Depends on your plans for garden- lots of sweet corn and bush beans? Want to cultivate real close without tearing out small plants instead of using hoe? Row crop trike front with front mounted cultivator about the best- and the slight offset IHC Cub or A, 100 series is one of the best for seeing plant rows. One sister has a Case VAC(?) with eagle hitch and a front mount cultivator as garden tractor, about same size as H. Disadvantage to old trikes? Watch for side slopes, don't use wide front loader buckets and don't tie pull plow trip lever to back of seat- use a loose wire hook and make sure hitch has working safety hitch in clevis. Beware of low mounted 8N mufflers in dry grass. RN
