I was using a brush hog powered by a Ford 2N since the age of 12 (began operating the same ford at 8) and never had a problem not having a live pto. When you needed to stop quickly, you just reached down and took the pto out of gear. Unless with the tractor has weight added, it has a harder time using a 2 btm plow in clay soil I am 62 and that 2N is still working every day, doing some form of utility work, just switched to a 12v system to make starting easier
