Tom, i respect your opinion. but unfortunately this will probably be the start to the end of our local fair. its the big fund raiser for not only the upkeep of the fair grounds, which many organizations utilize for their events, but also helps fund the local 4h, ffa, and other youth groups. the barrel racers are all local farm kids, and so is the draft horse demonstrations. the fair has a livestock auction for the 4h animals, and many of the business bid crazy money to help support the programs. more often than not, the buyers dont even take the livestock, but give it back to the kids that raised them. they support many classes for the 4h, even those for the city kids. its a shame to lose all that. one of our local farmers that raised cattle ending up getting sued by a townie that bought a farmette across the road from his cattle farm, then sued him because his flys came across the road and harassed her horses. she claimed that horses do not have flys. peta got involved and backed her lawsuit financially and he lost. had to shut down his cattle operation. the farm was a third generation cattle and grain farm. things are really getting out of hand.
