IMO they turned to crap in '99 for 1/2 T and in 2000 for 3/4 T. Get the "old" "classic" body style, preferrably a '98 but Suburban and 3/4 T trucks also still used that body in '99. Better body/better galvanizing/better engine (5.7) Better rear susp. Rear ends went to "thow-away"..ask a GM tech. "96-'97-'98 were some of the best they've built. Buy out of rust belt , buy from orig owner or at least NOT off dealer. I bought '99 Sub 4x4 off orig. owner with only 73000 miles, garage kept and seats covered since new and orig wdw sticker and it listed at $ 43000. 1999 spotless in and out , perfect orig paint/never wrecked or rusted....$8500 Will last me a long time and look better than the new junk too.
