and here is palmer amaranth. we are seeing palmer here in illinois, kanakakee , grundy and livingston counties. palmer is a very nasty weed. the county extension said it originally came from the southwest united states in a load of hay that got sent to tenessee or kentucky. from there the palmer spread in the hay fields, and the hay was shipped to a huge dairy in indiana. from there it took hold and the birds spread it pretty good. after the plant is 4 inches tall, round up will not kill it. you have to manually remove it from your fields. it spreads rapidly as each plant produces huge amounts of seeds. if you see it, dig it up and burn it. hot fire.
