Changing oil on a newly acquired 98 tahoe with 160,000 and noticed a little oil around the front differential on the left side. The shaft next to differential moves up and down just a bit, right side does not, oil is full. I went over to my 96 1500 pickup with 210,000 on it and it has no wiggle. Went over to the my 98 1500 with 110,000 and both shafts have a little wiggle, oil full and just a little dried oil around the shafts. I have checked the oil on the pickups from time to time and never had to add any, but never took the time to check for looseness. I don't use 4wd too often and kick it back to 2wd as soon as the situation passes. How much play is acceptable or is any movement cause for concern, Thanks for any information.
