I've got a 966 international tractor with 4100 actual hours. Tractor was jumping out of gear. Got it torn down and found pinion nut had backed off shaft. Also pinion bearing was out due to nut backing off. Ring and pinion needs replaced. Got damaged teeth. Would I be better off with a good used ring and pinion from somewhere or a new aftermarket?? Another thing is all the aftermarkets state that they have to be used with new style bearing and retainer. The new style bearing and retainers I see cost as much as aftermarket ring and pinion. I don't understand what they changed. Any help greatly appreciated.
