It is the larger of 2 fittings and appears to be the suction side of the pump. As for what type I am not sure since I have NOTHING other then the pump to compare the treads to.
It is the pump that mounts up in the timing gear area so yes likely to be driven by the timing gears. The treads appear to be a fine tread and from what I can see straight treads so maybe a fine tread o-ring fitting but no place in town has any thing that fits. Plus since I have nothing to go by on the tractor that does not help either
