First hayride I was ever on was near the end of the first grade when our teacher, Mrs. Fuller had my class on a field trip over to her farm. Her husband, Mr. Fuller picked her and us up at the school with three wagons behind a Farmall M along with some parents, up on bails of hay and off to their farm we went. She taught us how to make butter, showed us a few things. My parents never churned their own butter, so that was different. But they loaded us back up, pulled us around their farm and then back to school. Of course was county roads to and from. I don't think that would be allowed today.
