I am in Central Ohio and had our 1 1/3 ac lake cleaned some years ago..had 6' 0f silt in it..
Ours was just like Black Grease and took about 6 months drying per FOOT of depth..I could scrape off about 1 foot and then I could see the footing below was gonna stick me ( again).. Yea, had to jack the front of the JD "B" and crib it to get it out...and that was the following year.. All dry and graded now, it looks like normal topsoil..
It is nasty to move if it is still wet mud..
We used a Sludge Pump to take the lighter silt out and over the dam...saved what good fish we found in a small dug area in the bottom to keep them.. Found there were millions of cross-bred catfish, sucker-fish, etc in there that were no good at all..
