: Proper installation of all the parts in the piston pump rebuild kit, along with the tapered roller bearing cup, which for some reason isn't included, should cure the pump of losing its prime. Be sure the pumpshaft is not worn too much in the area of the lip seal, or the needle bearing, extra clearance in either area will lead to premature seal failure & loss of prime. Good Luck
