Last one I had, I ran Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5w-30 with Motorcraft filters. Sold it with 305,000 miles with the original sparkplugs in it. Changed oil every 6-7 thousand and only had to add one quart at 3500 miles. I guess that is not right, I still own 2 5.4's One in a 2011 Expedition with 15000 miles, and one in a 1998 Navigator with 194000. Never have had any trouble with my 5.4's If I were you, I would just use the Motorcraft blended oil, and keep it changed every 3500 unless you are running road miles and putting 75000 miles plus on every year.
