We were cutting logs today. Had a cull white pine growing right up next to the base of a nice hard maple. The one crotch went down where it was supposed to. All of the branches of the second crotch were entangled with the maple and the second one came straight down off the stump. Jeff dropped the saw and took off running. When we got safely away from the tree I was right even with the lad. If anything I might even have been a half a stride ahead of him. (chuckle) Did get the miserable thing pulled down safely after a bit of monkeying around. Nothing more dangerous than a tree hung up vertically. Got a couple of White pine right there that are a bit over 40 inches at the stump and the other one is a tad over 38 inches. Jeff plans on finishing building the rest of the barn to it's original length next year. I expect those two will get harvested next spring to contribute to the cause.
