Usually the part will roll under a tire, or the work bench. The other day I stopped by the neighbor's shop where they were getting the combine ready for fall work. This is a 590 Lexion. The hired man had put oil in the rotor gearboxes which are in the back of the combine way up high. IN the process he dropped the fill plug, it hit the slanted steel and took off out the back of the combine. When I got there he had moved everything away behind the combine and couldn't find it. I got on my hands and knees and looked under everything behind the combine but I couldn't find it. Another guy looked around on the floor and didn't see it. We gave up on it and started walking away when the other guy looked straight down behind the combine and there it was in plain sight on the cement floor. All I can figure is it hit something behind the combine and bounced back.
