95 chev 1 ton with GAS engine has a HEI distributor, and early GM fuel inj based on a Bosch type.
Take a spark plug and a can of carb cleaner(not starting fluid). First, take off the air cleaner, and spritz the carb cleaner in the MAF throttle body while he cranks it. If it fires up when you spritz it, you have a fuel delivery problem. Crack the fuel delivery line on the pax side of the engine bay leading to the injector rail, or TBI case. Now, you are going to spray fuel, so make sure there's no spark! Crank the engine for a second and see if fuel comes out the split in the line where you loosened it. If you have fuel there, it's the fuel controller. If you don't have fuel there, it's the pump.
If you didn't get any fire when spritzing carb cleaner, most likely the ignition module in the HEI dist. They tend to get hot, and break down and stops the coil from firing. It could also be the embedded coil in the dist cap. They also tend to get hot, and open up then won't fire.
Ign control module or coil.
Fuel pump or fuel injector control module.
