Back in the seventies, I was stationed in Charleston, SC, and on "off Crew" status during the worst of the winter. While I was at home on R&R, Charleston had an 8" snow- one of the worst 'blizzards' the area had ever known. Nobody had snow tires, and only the local farmers had mud tires and tractors. The story went that a guy slid his Caddy into a ditch, and a local farmer came by and offered his help. He started to unwrap a chain from his tractor (a big one for it's day) and the motorist piped up with "You're not going to hook that thing to my %7000 car, are you?" The farmer wrapped the chain back on the draft links, and drove off after telling the fool, "No sir. I'm not gonna hook your $7000 car to my $17,000 tractor!!!"......
