Restoring a Farmall 240.

I am trying to restore my grandfather's old Farmall 240. He was the only one who could make it run consistently. It already had a 12 volt conversion but it has not really worked well. Does anyone know where I can get a "layman's" repair manuel and directions for doing a proper 12 volt conversion?
