I do not do tractors but other old machinery like steel wheel hay rakes for the Amish. When I do a rake if I do not have to replace parts that stand out I do not paint. As of right now I am working on one that I have had to replace part of the frame and enough other parts everything I had to replace would have been obvious so painting it. Used parts from one unit will not look like the used pars from the other unit. Also it seams the painted rakes sell better than the non painted ones. These are for use in the fields behind the horses. I have done 40-50 rakes since I started. And I have a market for every one as soon or before it is ready to go.
