I am resealing the FWA on my Kubota 3010.
This first picture is for general reference of where I am.
This second pic shows the area of question. Right in the middle is the band where the seal actually rides. There is a rusty band at the top (left), then two fairly shiny bands where the main sealing parts of the seal bear. The thin darker rings are between and below where the sealing bands of the seal ride.
The third pic shows the new seal looking at the inner sealing surface showing the two flat sealing bands with the thin groove between. The seal has no lip of any sort.
My concern is that the whole surface that the seal rides on is not at all smooth due to rust. My thought is to clean it up with crocus cloth, if it will do the job, or perhaps emery cloth followed by crocus cloth to smooth it some. Or do they make speedy sleeves or equivalent this large? Or some other sort of smoothing short of taking the assembly off and taking it to a machine shop? Or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill and I should not worry about it leaking?
