I started this project 14 months ago. Then broke my leg and had to put it on hold. Then they were fixing the highway all summer so I couldn't pull an over dimension load. So Finally the route was clear and we left at 8 AM Sunday morning. Here it is in my yard ready to make the trip.
I had to extend the tongue on the trailer to do this. But I've always thought the trailer could use a longer one so when I cut it back down I will make it about 18" longer than it was.
Here it is out on the highway. My friend Mike followed me and took this one.
The trip took about 3 hours. I drove 45 most of the way.
Here we are, just arrived at my property. 120 miles away.
I had had some class 5 delivered and spread it out with the tractor and back blade. Then I backed the garage in where it was going to go.
It took us about 5 hours to get it lifted up off the trailer and set down onto the ground. I just screwed two layers of 2X6 treated lumber to the bottom of the walls and that is all it will get. It needs a coat of paint (to match the house)and a bit of tweaking. I will do that next summer. I'm thinking use it for 15 years and then pull it down. The garage is 14'X22'. It was structurally sound and I hated to just tear it down but it had to go to make room for the addition on our house. Total cost of the move - building permit up at my land (grrr), class 5, fuel, misc lumber, amber lights, OD signs, steel for the tongue, etc, etc was about $700. Chevy pulled it good. Got about 6 MPG. Believe it or not the OD permit from the State was $15. Yes. Fifteen Dollars. I thought that was cheap. I will sell the lights, mirrors and oversize signs on craigslist and reuse the lumber in the addition. I've never done anything like this but knew I could. The whole trip went off smooth as silk. I'm no dirt man so my pad isn't perfectly level. Garage sits about 1 1/2' off from side to side. Good enough for a tractor shed.
Of course we no more than had it in place and my little 3000 moved right in. Probably thinks we did all that work just for her.

Today's Featured Article - Women and Tractors - Tractor Engine Repair - by Teri Burkholder. One of the great things about working on a tractor engine with your other half is that you know what he is thinking of at all times and can anticipate his every move and his next thought of what he will do. With Ben, anyway, I can tell! He'll be busy working and I’m handing him tools and he says, "give me that..." and I’ve already got it in his hand or "hand me that....."and I’ve got the portable light right where he needed it placed to see. "Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
