I drive in NE MA usually one day a week. It is very common for drivers to try to keep someone from changing into their lane ahead of them. I try to keep right except when passing, so that traffic ca flow faster, but now and then I come up behind a slower moving vehicle in my lane, so I will make a SAFE lane change. I start looking for a good opening in the left lane well in advance, and I admit that I will sometimes "play" with the driver a little. I will put my directional on to signal my intended lane change, but not change for a few seconds. The driver of the car coming up behind me will, more than half the time, rather than reduce speed SLIGHTLY to let me in, will instead accelerate aggressively and come quickly up to my bumper and slam on the brakes as if I will think that I just changed lanes without adequate room. It always amazes me to see how many owners of the road there are.
