It takes someone with little or no conscience to deliberately kill a companion animal. It is now an aggravated felony in Georgia to deliberately cause an animal to suffer and die as happened to our cat.
The crime is punishable by a fine of up to $15,000 and 5 years in prison. The FBI is assembling a database of offenders because of the frequent link between animal abuse and violent crimes against people.
