I took the old high pressure PS hose off the Cougar and replaced it with a new Gates hose. It had been leaking at the steering gear (Saginaw) and I figured this was just a quick fix. I tightened the hose to about 25 foot pounds and it leaks exactly like the old one. I hate to overtighten. What gives? Is there a special procedure? A trick? BTW, your headlights do not work if the dimmer switch comes unplugged. Not sure it happened but I do know how many hours were spent troubleshooting that little debacle.
