I don't go west of Denver often, I think it's been 5 years or so since the last time. I'm frequently amazed at the beauty of our country and this is one of the reasons I like my job. There is something beautiful in every state. With it being a rare treat to go through these mountains I took some pics and I thought you might enjoy some of them. These first ones are in Az headed south on I-15.
These next ones are climbing up to Eisenhour on I-70 west of Denver. The first is the sunrise over the mountains not long after I got going this morning.
Then some from Utah along I-70.
I don't usually take pics while driving, but at this speed not much damage can be done.
First you cross Vail pass at over 10,000 feet.
Then you drop down and have to climb back up to Eisenhower pass.
Eisenhower pass is the highest pass on the interstate system at 11,100+ feet of elevation. Eisenhower tunnel is the highest and longest mountain tunnel at 1.75 miles long.
The ski slope and lift on the east side were up and running.
From there on to Denver it is all down hill and takes all my attention so even tho there were some beautiful sights I didn't get any more pics. Hope you enjoyed these, I certainly enjoyed the drive.
