Son and Grandson were here for awhile last night. Grandson is 11 and when he walked in the house he saluted me and said "THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE GRANDPA"---I am not one to flaunt my 3 years 9 months and 4 days I was in the USN but it made me feel GOOD. I served my time and got out and that was it. I have been a American Legion member for 43 years now and now the media has made it popular to honor the vets. The restaurants are getting on the bandwagon with FREE food for vets day. Our squadron-VS-27 was stationed in Norfolk Virginia and the joke was to watch for the signs that said "SAILORS AND DOGS-KEEP OFF THE GRASS"-That last picture is of my Dad and myself at the Waterloo airport. Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
