The Blue candidate did not win the popular vote of all votes cast, just all votes counted, absentee votes are not counted in any state unless the outcome could be affected by the total, for example, California always goes blue by a huge margin, California always has approximately 2 million absentee ballots but they are not counted because the Red candidate always loses by more than 2 million. If all of the absentee votes were actually counted tuesday's winner would win the popular vote as well because absentee votes always favor Red roughly 65% to 35% blue, even in California and New York and Illinois because the vast majority of absentee are military people and other people who are overseas working, emphasis on ''working''. The same thing happened in 2000 when the media reported that the blue candidate won the popular vote, again, he only won the votes counted, not cast.
