I hate to break your bubble, but Cronkite was the worst of the bunch.
According to a post 'Nam interview of General Giap, commander of the North Vietnamese Army, in 1968 the RVN Army was breathing its last gasp and considered the Tet Offensive a last ditch effort. After taking a drubbing in the Offensive, the RVN Army was ready to call it quits. They lost the war, it was all over.
Giap said he was dumbfounded when he heard Cronkite blatantly distort the news, declare the Tet Offensive a major victory for North Vietnam, and declare it a bigtime loss for the U.S. According to Giap, that gave the RVN Army the incentive to hang on for one more day, one more week, and one more month for another seven years.
At the time of the Tet Offisive, the U.S. had about 2,000 casualties. Cronkite had the blood of some 58,000 U.S. service personnel on his hands. How anyone could give him any credibility is beyond me.
