I own that same tractor with AG lug tires and can tell you for certain he does not have his tractor weight right.

If you noticed the axles on that trailer are only 3500lb axles. He was lucky just to have made it home. Especially with only one strap... YIKES
As to the operations of it he will learn hopefully before he gets hurt. He does need to learn how to use the diff lock.
When I haul mine I use a 14K gooseneck with brakes on both axles. I use grade 100 chain with grade 80 hooks on all four corners with 9600lb ratchet booms on each chain. I also use a grade 70 chain with a 5000lb ratchet boom across the cutter or other implement.
