That distributor will only go on in one position, and the adjustment is limited. If you get the wires in the right order, it will be close enough to run.
Getting the points right on those is tricky, but once right it should run. Not uncommon to get "bad out of the box" points and condenser now, everything foreign made aftermarket.
That said, the electronic kits are great! They will make a reliable spark, but only if everything else is right will they work.
