But how long ago? The case with the guy at the town meeting must have been 10-15 years ago. They may arrest you for it but let them try making it stick! I haven't heard of a conviction for something like that in years. Mostly because they don't actually try people for that. The local DA knows that if the guy fights it they will win. If foul language is the only reason for the arrest then you can toss in false arrest into the mix too.
Now don't get me wrong. After 20 years as a tanker in the Army I can use some pretty foul language. I'm careful around women and kids though.
AS far as showing a weak mind? That is pure BS. I know some very intelligent people who can curse with the best of them and do. As far as showing a weak mind that very idea was put forth by someone who was trying to get people to censor themselves, or in other words control their speech.
The whole problem with foul language is that people who normally use it in public are the first ones to get in your face and tell you that you have to respect them but they show no respect to/for others. A large part of that problem stems from the "expect respect" garbage they are teaching in schools. That started back in the 90's. I got taught that respect is earned. I think that's what we need to go back to. A society that understands that respect is earned, not an entitlement. I was watching some stuff on street gangs. They equate respect with fear. They fail to understand that just because you act in a respectful manner around someone you fear doesn't mean you respect them! No, you walk away from that person and you start dropping the F bomb and in "I hope the MF dies"! Or later telling a friend "that MF AH can kiss my ______"! Really sounds like they are respected alright!
