iPad is a cross between a smart phone and a laptop, has lots of software available, does not do phone, but has a bigger screen than a phone to work with.
Tablet is all of the similar things, like an iPad, an Androod device, or a Windows device. A touch screen, no real keyboard tho you can add small ones, they are smaller and easier to use than a laptop. Very handy to use, some are 7 inches, some are 9 inches, and a few are bigger. You can get a cheap, one that isn't so good for $50, and you can spend over $1000 for a top notch one. They tend to allow a long, 8-10 hour battery life, quick on, no moving parts.
The 'books' are like a tablet, but might have a custom, simple, operating system and are aimed at reading downloadable books. And perhaps scanning the Internet. They tend to have a screen designed for long term text reading not so good color and video. They tend to not have as many bits of software available to do stuff.
Wifi is how any of these devices get internet access, as most laptops do. You may have your desktop plugged into the Internet with a cable? 'Wifi' is getting rid of that cable and broadcasting the Internet about a 1000 foot circle you can roam in, no wires. Most get set up with a password, you can't get the access without the password.
I hardly use my desktop, any more, I'm on the iPad for everything Internet any more. Lots of farming stuff. Some might think thry are junk that is fine. The cheap $50-100 ones are, but a quality $300+ tablet is a lot faster, less fuss, very portable, easy to use machine, unless you want to type out book they work great.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
